WEIS ENVIRONMENTAL News
Great Expectations
12.12.2008
In July, the partners of WEIS ENVIRONMENTAL® LCC got together in Waiblingen for a routine meeting.
In the rooms of WEIS INDUSTRIES® GmbH & Co KG, Ingo Wertek welcomed guests Jim Cavender of the joint venture partner AZO in Memphis, Chuck Kerwin, head manager of WEIS ENVIRONMENTAL, Reiner Bär, managing director of BETH® Filtration GmbH in Lübeck, and Johann Andexlinger, who oversees and organizes the development of the American subsidiary.
The »no tie« dress code was not a reaction to a particularly »hot« July day, but rather a sign of the casual atmosphere in which the meeting took place. This casual dress code is quite common and frequent in the USA – a cultural feature that was greatly appreciated by the German participants.
Mr. Bär had the pleasure to report a large incoming order from Thyssen Krupp in Mobile/Alabama for which the support of the local subsidiary will be needed.
The companies are getting closer and closer to their common goal of distributing electrostatic precipitation filters for the exhaust gas treatment of energy-producing biomass combustion plants in the USA. What has seemed unthinkable just a few years or even months ago will now become a reality.
By now, there are special exhibitions and trade fairs in the USA that are exactly tailored to this environmental market. In September 2008, WEIS ENVIRONMENTAL® LLC displayed its filter products at the International Biomass Conference & Trade Show.
ATTENDING TRADE SHOWS AND ENTERING THE MARKET EARLY HAVE ALREADY LED TO NUMEROUS INQUIRIES AND CONCRETE PROJECTS.
The prospects in the segment of environmental technology in the USA gave rise to optimism among all of the participants. Ingo Wertek summed up the meeting in July, stating that the company is »the right size at the right time in the right place, and we can look forward to seeing exciting new developments.«
