Cyclonic separation (also called »centrifugal separation«) is a method of removing particulates from an air or gas stream without the use of filters.

The particle-laden air stream enters the separator tangentially at the top. A high speed rotating airflow (vortex) is established within a cylindrical or conical container called a »cyclone«. By centrifugal force, the particles are moved along the outside wall where they are separated and slide into a collection device in a spiral motion.

Cyclones are high-efficiency centrifugal separators that achieve extremely high separation rates at a very low pressure loss. WEIS ENVIRONMENTAL offers two different types of cyclones.
